Fitness Rooms in Residence Halls

Housing & Residential Services furnishes all equipment in residence fitness rooms. Use all equipment at your own risk, be mindful of other users, and observe all fitness room rules.

Fitness Room Rules

  • Fitness area users must be age 18 or older, unless a full-time MIT student. Children aged 16 or 17 may also use the equipment if accompanied by their resident parent or legal guardian.
  • Please return all exercise equipment to its proper location.
  • Use equipment correctly and safely. Keep weights in control. Use a spotter when lifting heavy weights.
  • Shoes with good traction must be worn at all times while using any of the equipment.
  • Be considerate of others, especially when playing music, and be mindful of quiet hours.
  • Refrain from taking phone calls within this room.
  • Use the provided cleaning supplies to wipe equipment after each use.
  • Do not remove any equipment from this room. 
  • Turn off the lights, fan, and/or air conditioner (if applicable)  if you are the last person to leave the room.
  • Guests, when permitted, must be accompanied by a resident at all times.
  • Promptly report any equipment issues using the QR code located on the equipment.
