Data on Student Life

Data is the lifeblood of MIT. We compile data pertinent to DSL to make it easier for community members to find and use for program improvement.

Student Life Renewal & Renovations

Student life spaces are more than just places to gather—they’re where community is built and lifelong memories are made. Through thoughtful construction and renewal, we ensure that these spaces remain welcoming, functional, and inspiring for every generation of students.

McCormick Hall Renewal

McCormick Hall will be closed beginning in summer 2026. A renewal to target aging building systems will preserve the building’s charm while meeting accessibility standards.

East Campus Renovation

SEABoard

Get on Board with SEABoard!

The Staff Engagement Advisory Board (SEABoard) is a vibrant team of 45+ staff volunteers from across the division who work together on three committees and a steering group to make DSL the best place to work at MIT. Charged by Vice Chancellor Suzy Nelson in 2016, SEABoard was created to strengthen staff engagement, build community, and expand professional development opportunities for DSL staff. We believe that when staff feel supported, inspired, and connected, everyone thrives—including the students we serve.

SEABoard also serves as an advisory council to the Vice Chancellor and DSL senior leaders, offering insight on staff needs and priorities. Guided by feedback from the Quality of Life Survey, SEABoard organizes 15-20 exciting and meaningful staff initiatives each year, including a professional development conference, holiday party, wellnesspalooza wellbeing, DSLReads, and the Do You Read Me? series.
