Disability and Access Services (DAS) is committed to ensuring both physical and digital accessibility across campus, creating an environment where all students can fully participate in academic and campus life regardless of how they navigate spaces or interact with technology.

Physical Accessibility

DAS collaborates with campus partners to address physical access needs.

Plan your path around campus with the MIT Campus Accessibility Map. The map provides recommended routes for individuals with mobility disabilities, including the locations of curb cuts, ramps, and accessible restrooms, in addition to accessible building entrances.

The MIT Libraries are committed to ensuring persons with disabilities have access to all of our resources. Services include:

  • Assistance retrieving items from the stacks — most items can be requested in advance for pickup at any services desk using the “Your Account” service
  • Assignment of”Designated Borrower” who can borrow material on their behalf — qualified students can obtain this privilege from the Libraries through DAS
  • Access to assistive equipment and software

For more information regarding access to MIT Libraries materials and services call 617-253-5671 or email circulation@mit.edu.

MIT students can request on-campus parking privileges through MIT Parking and Transportation. Through this process, students are assigned parking permits for specific zones. Please see the Parking and Transportation Office for detailed information, as well as information on accessible parking spaces.

Students who wish to request disability-related accommodations as they pertain to parking must engage both the Parking and Transportation Office procedure and the DAS procedure. Contact us at das-student@mit.edu for assistance.

If you encounter any barriers or have any requirements or recommendations relating to the physical environment, please contact:

Digital Accessibility

When you create or purchase digital content or tools, it’s important to ask whether it will be accessible to users with disabilities. We’re here to help by providing accessibility reviews, consultations, and trainings.

Have a new or updated website or product that you need reviewed for accessibility? Our team of digital accessibility experts can answer your questions and provide feedback. We have experience in accessibility as it relates to academics, web development, and instructional design.

We use a combination of web standards (W3C, WAI, WCAG), federal accessibility guidelines, and user testing with assistive technologies to assess the accessibility of MIT websites, applications, and courseware.

Email us at accessibility@mit.edu or call 617-253-1674.

We lead trainings on digital accessibility topics for our Digital Accessibility Liaison network. MIT community members can email us at accessibility@mit.edu to be added to our mailing list and receive invitations to our trainings.
