MIT is home to hundreds of student organizations. From arts groups to club sports to religious and affinity groups, there is something here for everyone. Below are just a small sample of some of the many organizations on campus.

Student Leadership Opportunities
Student Organizations, Leadership, and Engagement (SOLE) offers leadership opportunities for MIT students, as well as running governing & programming boards.
Arts & Performance
From band, music production and signing groups, to dance clubs, filmmaking, theatre, and even a knitting and crochet club, MIT offers a wide variety of clubs in the arts.
Sports & Athletics
MIT offers 33 varisty spots in addition to a wide variety of club and intermural sports.
Outdoors
Climbing, acroyoga, caving, and an outing club that participates in all sorts of outdoor adventures are amung some of the clubs at MIT for those who love the great outdoors.
Community Service
From American Red Cross to Science Club for Girls, if you are looking to get involved in the larger community, there are a wide variety of opportunities at MIT.
Technology
Interested in AI? Want to build something that flies? Like Gaming and VR? You will find a club and likeminded friends.
Games & Puzzles
Whether you like to develop games, play Mahjong, or enjoy solving mysteries and puzzles, MIT offers a variety of opportunities to pursue your favorite pastime.
Religion & Spirituality
MIT is home to over 20 religious affiliation groups, from the Addir Interfaith Association to the Tech Catholic Community.
Cultural Groups
With over 300 cultural groups, you will be sure to find your people. ASL, Hawaii Club, Black Women’s Alliance, Disabled@MIT, and the Lion Dance Group are just a few examples.
How to Get Involved
MIT Engage
As an MIT student, you can access information about all organizations and clubs on the Engage portal (login required). Each organization has its own page where you can:
- Find out how to join
- Learn about upcoming events and meeting times
- Meet club officers
To get started, use the Groups tab to search by name or by category. Once you’ve joined a group, it will be part of your personal dashboard.
Association of Student Activities
The Association of Student Activities (ASA) is a joint committee of both the Undergraduate Association (UA) and the Graduate Student Council (GSC). In general, the ASA oversees student group activity and is the governing body of students groups on the MIT campus. The ASA Executive Board advocates on behalf of student groups, helping to access and allocates resources across student groups. They also arbitrate among student groups and any other involved parties.
