About Support, Wellbeing, and Belonging


Support, Wellbeing, and Belonging represents MIT's commitment to supporting all students and educating them about living healthy and purposeful lives. We strive to create an environment that is welcoming and instills a sense of belonging which is critical for students to thrive. We provide academic, personal, disability, substance use/abuse, crisis, and violence prevention services and education to the entire community, along with the information and tools necessary to recognize and support students in need.

We envision an MIT where support is proactive and wellbeing is an essential component of an MIT education.

We strive to create an environment that is welcoming and instills a sense of belonging. Our dedication to this effort is supported by:

  • Ensuring that our interactions, spaces, and practices are welcoming to all students.
  • Intentionally working to identify, acknowledge, and reduce unconscious bias.
  • Building a diverse staff and supporting them through onboarding and retention efforts.
  • Providing ongoing, proactive education on topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
