At the end of each term, the faculty Committee on Academic Performance (CAP) reviews the academic performance of all undergraduates and hears petitions from students making requests for exceptions to established academic standards.

Six faculty and three students serve as voting members of the committee, with one of the faculty members serving as the chair.

Deans from Student Support Services(S3) attend all CAP meetings and serve as an integrative source of information for many issues that are discussed amongst the committee. They also play a central role in helping students who are required to withdraw, and facilitating the process for students hoping to return to the Institute.

Students who have submitted a CAP petition or believe they will be flagged for discussion at an end-of-term CAP meetings, should make an appointment with an S3 dean.
