Hayami Arakawa

Hayami Arakawa has been an instructor at the Hobby Shop since 2006 and became the fifth shop Director in 2014. Born and raised on the left coast of the United States, he majored in furniture and industrial design at the California College of Arts and Crafts (now the California College of the Arts). After working as a College studio manager, Japanese temple carpenter and independent furniture maker, he and his wife moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where he pursued his MFA and MA at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since arriving in Massachusetts, Hayami has been a Professor at the Mass College of Art and Design and UMass Dartmouth.
