Committee on Academic Performance
The faculty Committee on Academic Performance (CAP) reviews the academic performance of all undergraduates at the end of the Fall and Spring terms, and also hears petitions from students making requests for exceptions to established academic standards. Six faculty and three students serve as voting members of the committee, with one of the faculty members serving as the chair of the committee.
S3 deans attend all CAP meetings and serve as an integrative source of information for many issues that are discussed amongst the committee. Deans also play a central role in helping students who are required to withdraw, and facilitate the return process for students hoping to return to the Institute. Students who have submitted a CAP petition or believe they will be flagged for discussion at end-of-term CAP meetings, should make an appointment with an S3 dean.
