There are many reasons why undergraduates may need or wish to take time away from the Institute. The deans in S3 are available to talk with you about your situation, and to guide you through the process of taking time away, and returning. Before leaving the Institute, you should have a clear understanding of the expectations during your leave. Details about requesting and returning from leave are available in the S3 section.

A City of Cambridge ordinance establishes that smoking is prohibited in all areas of MIT residence halls, including student rooms, hallways and lounges, except as otherwise noted. This prohibition includes the use of electronic cigarettes and other nicotine products or delivery devices.
