Process Overview

The Committee on Discipline (COD) receives and acts on three types of complaints: academic misconduct, personal/general misconduct, and sexual misconduct.  There is a procedure to respond to each case that recognizes the elements unique to each type of case.  The procedures for responding to all three types of complaints are described in detail in the COD RulesThis link opens in a new window. Learn more about the academic integrity process. The OSCCS has developed a series of one-page flyers that explain common COD processes that you may find helpful - you can find them below:

Please note that all participants in the COD process, including respondents, complainants, advisors, and witnesses are expected to follow the "Expectations for Decorum" as outlined on the IDHR website. If you have any questions about this expectations, please contact OSCCS.

MIT has established communication around the IDHR process for incidents relating to campus tensions stemming from the Israel-Hamas War. Please see IDHR's website for more information.

Additionally, the COD has published rules for an expedited process to resolve potential violations of MIT’s policies on “time, place, and manner” of campus protests, which can be found here.
