The Student Organizations, Leadership and Engagement Office provides an environment for students to test new ideas, develop leadership skills and create community at MIT.
As a hub for student engagement and leadership development, we work with students and Institute stakeholders to develop opportunities for students to implement impactful programming, become value-oriented leaders and broaden their understanding and competencies in the area of inclusivity and advocacy. SOLE acts as an advisor and thinking partner to the Institute’s programming boards, student governing bodies and over 500+ organizations by providing guidance, tools, expertise and resources.

The mission of the SOLE Office is to provide support, resources, and development opportunities to students involved in organizations, governing boards, programming boards, and leadership programs at MIT. Our staff aims to foster a culture of partnership, collaboration, mutual learning, student success, and fun in the MIT community.
The vision of the SOLE Office is to create a community where all students feel a sense of belonging at the Institute, participate in meaningful and memorable co-curricular experiences, and are empowered to create positive change within and outside of the MIT community.
