First-Year Leadership Program

Attention Class of 2023: Welcome to the original and longest running FPOP at MIT. This is NOT your traditional leadership program. In fact, some have called it a “life changing experience”and “the greatest FPOP that will change your life” but that’s all we can say. You will have to come yourself to find out if it’s really true. The only other thing we can say is: any expectations and perceptions that you have right now about a leadership program, throw them away.
You will have the chance to connect and create a community with 49 other amazing members of your class, before you even get to campus! You’ll stay together in cabins on a lake at a summer camp, quickly forming close, lasting friendships. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will have more fun than you ever thought possible at MIT.
In your 5 days with us, FLP will challenge you to explore what has shaped your worldview. You will actively discuss topics such as race, sexuality, privilege, and other social issues that are relevant today. Through these discussions coupled with silly group games like Go Bananas! and Asa, you will gain self-awareness while forging deep bonds with the students around you.
