MC^2
Intercultural Engagement Multicultural Conference
Welcome to the 2022 Multicultural Conference!
The mission of the Multicultural Conference is to bring students together across race, ethnicity, gender, religion, nationality, socioeconomic status, ability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of identity. This overnight conference offers both team-building activities and a thought-provoking day of individual and group learning, reflection, and action-planning concerning culture, identity, & social justice at MIT and beyond.
The theme for this year’s conference is:
Tapping Into Vulnerability: The Core of Creativity & Innovation
The era of COVID, the need for adaptation, growth and sometimes change challenged each of us in various ways. With this revelation, several new and unfamiliar features surfaced about life, norms and the fragility and vulnerability of humanity. This awareness has focused our collective attention on the many injustices and weaknesses that already exist in how we live together. Because of these experiences, we were faced with a diverse array of challenges that has pushed us to connect with our emotions and feelings, which at times, make us feel vulnerable. Given this, we as a collective, are inspired to explore the power of vulnerability. Where in this void can we discover the ability to claim our authenticity, connection, and courage to reveal the most accurate potential of our individual powers? With gratitude, how do we embrace the process of growth from the ideologies and habits that no longer serve us? We hope students and staff alike are inspired to dig deep into the core of vulnerability through the connection and engagement of a collective learning community that will allow us to safely open ourselves to various tools, resources and experiences that allow us to grow and have the courage to explore and innovate new ways of living.
Best,
