Welcome Class of 2024

Welcome Class
of 2024

Greetings from Senior Associate Dean Friedrich

Welcome, and congratulations on your admittance to MIT!

Housing & Residential Services (HRS) oversees the operation of our on-campus residence halls here at the Institute, including housing assignments, repair and maintenance, residential security, and more. We are responsible for ensuring that residences are welcoming and supportive of MIT’s distinctive residential experience. In partnership with Undergraduate Residential Education, HRS works with students and their house teams and house governments to ensure that they have the infrastructure and resources they need to build and sustain strong communities.  We are pleased to share more information about our housing system so that you can find a meaningful community for yourself here at MIT.

Following President Reif’s recent message on July 7, we know that you have many questions about housing and other logistical questions.  The team at HRS is currently working with partners across the Institute to support students and the campus community.  As soon as additional information becomes available for first-year students, including information about potential on-campus housing for Spring 2021, HRS will update our webpage and share these details with you.

In the meantime, please take a moment to review the comprehensive FAQ page with information about decisions for the Fall 2020 semester.  As always, if the team at HRS may be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact our office via e-mail at residence@mit.edu or via phone at (617) 253-2811.
