Returning From a Leave of Absence

Helpful Guidance

If you’re intending to return from a Leave of Absence (not medical/personal/academic leave) for Fall 2021 and would like to live in MIT housing, this information might be helpful to you as you navigate the process:

  1. Review the Return from Leave of Absence Checklist to make sure you are prepared to return from leave.
  2. Once you’ve done that, fill out the Leave of Absence Return Request Form as soon as possible, which opens on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 and is due Tuesday, June 15.

TIP: Don’t wait too long with this form, though, because you’ll need your leave to be processed before Monday, June 7, when housing placements from the waitlist start.
  3. You’ll also want to fill out the Housing Waitlist Application, which opens on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 9:00 am ET. Students who submit a waitlist application will be offered a housing assignment on a first-come, first-served basis depending on students’ housing preferences and housing availability.  Housing offers through the waitlist process will begin on Monday, June 7 and continue on a rolling basis according to housing availability.
