Returning From a Leave of Absence

Helpful Guidance

If you’re intending to return from a Leave of Absence (not medical/personal/academic leave) and would like to live in MIT housing, this information is intended to help you navigate the process:

  1. Review the Return from Leave of Absence Checklist to make sure you are prepared to return from leave.

  2. Once you’ve done that, fill out the Leave of Absence Return Request Form as soon as possible.

Tip: Don’t wait too long with this form, though, because you’ll need your leave to be processed before housing placements from the waitlist start.

  3. You’ll also want to fill out the Housing Waitlist Application. Students who submit a waitlist application will be offered a housing assignment on a first-come, first-served basis depending on students’ housing preferences and housing availability.  Please visit our Dates & Deadlines webpage for additional details regarding the semesterly waitlist application periods.
