Interested in becoming a PEP Leader? 


The OMP Peer Educator Program (PEP) Leaders are student ambassadors in the Office of Multicultural Programs. They create intentional opportunities for their peers to learn more about identity, equity and social justice through workshops and events.

By becoming a Peer Educator Program (PEP) Leader you will:

  • Demonstrate effective facilitation skills during presentations and workshops offered throughout the academic year
  • Exhibit openness to other cultures and values expressed during workshops
  • Articulate their individual impact on social justice education and their role in supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion at MIT
  • Demonstrate foundational knowledge of cultural identities as it relates to self and other
  • Learning Objectives:
  • Provide opportunities to develop effective cross-cultural communication skills that increase students’ awareness and cultural competence
  • Facilitate dialogues related to social justice and identity amongst their peers
  • Collaborate with student organizations and OMP Graduate Assistants to plan and host programs during cultural/identity month celebrations
  • Engage in team-building opportunities that cultivate relationships with each other as Peer Educator

What are the requirements of becoming a PEP Leader?

  • All currently enrolled undergraduates are eligible for becoming a PEP Leader
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Openness to diverse perspectives
  • Able to facilitate small and large group discussions 
  • High standards for ethics and integrity
  • Respect for the Institute and its students, faculty, and staff
  • Desire to work with students
