COVID-19 Policies & Reminder

July 25, 2020

Dear Student,

We are writing to follow-up on a previous message regarding the Fall 2020 Housing Intent & Preference Form, which is currently available through the MyHousing portal until THIS MONDAY, JULY 27, at 11:59 PM.

As you think through whether to return to campus this fall, we want everyone to know about the COVID-19 policies that will be in effect for residents who elect to live in on-campus housing during Fall 2020. You can find the undergraduate student policies here. Please note that these policies have been updated with new information about creating social connections in undergraduate residence halls (e.g., pods); how to safely and responsibly access common spaces; and reserving country kitchens for special occasions.

If you have already completed the form.

  • You may amend your Fall 2020 housing intentions, grouping, or building preferences at any time before the form closes on Monday, July 27, at 11:59 pm.

If you have not yet completed the form.

  • We are asking ALL students who have been invited to campus for Fall 2020 to complete the online form to share their housing intentions. As announced in President Reif's letter to the MIT community, undergraduates who do not live on campus will have no access to campus facilities or in-person instruction.

We are also sharing a copy of the Return to Campus Agreement which students will be required to acknowledge and agree to as part of the COVID Pass health monitoring system, which is scheduled to be launched in the coming weeks for undergraduate students. While no action is required at this time, please take a moment to review the details of this agreement.

The updated policies and conditions of the Return to Campus Agreement were informed by public health guidance and by input from faculty, students, and staff on the Policy Working Group and many more community members. Everyone on campus this fall will play a critical role in supporting our community’s health and wellbeing, and the policies and agreement were developed with these priorities in mind.

Please visit the Housing & Residential Services (HRS) webpage for Fall 2020 housing updates, and email your housing-related questions to ughousingfall2020@mit.edu.

We look forward to your return to campus in a few weeks. Until then, we wish you the best for a relaxing end of summer.

Sincerely,
