Arrival Times & Housing Reminders

January 11, 2021

Dear Student,

I am writing to confirm details regarding your arrival to campus, where you have been assigned to live in [Enter Residence Hall]. Please know that we continue to closely monitor, and rapidly respond to, COVID-19. At this time, we are moving forward with our current  plans for move-in weekend on February 13-15.

It’s our hope that these plans will proceed without interruption. However, as we’ve learned throughout the pandemic, there are many things that are beyond our control so we  must all be flexible. Students are encouraged to develop travel plans that can be adapted should MIT need to change course due to changing circumstances locally and at the national level.

Your Confirmed Arrival

All students are expected to arrive during their assigned arrival period unless alternate arrangements with Housing & Residential Services (HRS) have already been made, or if there are circumstances beyond the student's control (i.e. travel delays). Below, please find your confirmed arrival date and time.  Please note that this arrival period is subject to change as we continue to monitor the pandemic:

CONFIRMED ARRIVAL TIME

If you need to adjust your confirmed arrival time, please email travelchange@mit.edu with your current arrival time and your requested new time. If you're running a few minutes earlier or later than your scheduled arrival time, please don't worry!

As a reminder, returning students will not be permitted to bring guests into the residence halls during move-in. First-year students will be permitted to bring up to one guest (updated!) with them for move-in, and guests may stay in the residence halls for a maximum of two hours.

Remaining Vigilant & Flexible

Guidance from public health experts requires that returns to MIT-affiliated residences be done with care to avoid spreading the virus.  We will follow the best advice of public health experts and meet all government requirements.  If circumstances require an alternate move-in schedule, all of us need to be prepared.  As such, MIT is requesting that all undergraduate students living on campus this spring pack lightly and arrange flexible travel plans where possible.

Additional Information Forthcoming

By the end of January, you'll receive your room assignment and additional details about move-in weekend which will provide step-by-step instructions about what to do prior to traveling, airport shuttle information, where to go when you arrive on campus and how to settle onto campus during quarantine week ("Q-Week”), which begins immediately upon check-in to your residence.

For now, please remember to pack light and ensure you complete the following if you have not done so already:

  1. Sign your Housing License Agreement in MyHousing as soon as possible.

  2. Complete your non-binding departure plan in MyHousing by Friday, January 15 at 12:00 pm ET.

Please check the Housing Dashboard for regular updates and send us your questions via email at ughousingspring2021@mit.edu. We look forward to welcoming you to campus!

Sincerely,

RICH HILTON
