Sonja Dagbjartsdottir


Sonja is the Human Resource Director in the Division of Student Life and has been at MIT since winter 2006.  Guided by the vision to help make DSL a “Best Place to Work”, Sonja provides leadership and sets strategic direction to the DSL HR team for all human resource activities, policies, and processes within the Division of Student Life.  She provides HR expertise and advice to senior leadership and staff on strategic talent management, complex employee relations/labor relations, compensation, recruitment, and diversity.  As strategic partner to SEABoard (Staff Engagement Advisory Board),  Sonja helps to improve engagement across the division and alignment with HR through various initiatives carried out by 3 sub-committees: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Professional Development, and Social Events & Wellness.  Sonja holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago, is a Susan Vogt Fellowship Leadership alumn and is a Search Inside Yourself Facilitator for MIT.  
 
In her free time, Sonja loves to learn, travel, move, binge-watch enthralling shows and seeks to “Be Here Now” as much as possible.  She also loves to spend time with friends, her amazing daughter, Nina, and family.
