MIT TechCASH Program
TechCASH is the most convenient way to purchase goods and services across campus. All you will need is your MIT ID Card to buy meals, books, coffee, laundry and just about everything else you will need while at MIT.
Students - We offer two different debit accounts for students to choose from. The TechCASH account can be used to purchase goods and services at all locations that accept TechCASH. Funds are deposited into a students account for purchases using the MIT ID Card.
The other student debit account is called Dining Dollars. This account is valid at those merchants that sell food products exclusively.
You may elect to have only a TechCASH account, a Dining Dollars account or both. Whichever way you choose, the funds deposited into these accounts are yours and are fully refundable. Both accounts remains active until cancelled by the student. Balances are carried forward from semester to semester, and year to year. Accounts inactive for over 120 days with a balance greater than $10.00 will be automatically closed and the balance will be refunded.
Employees - We offer two different ways for employees to fund their TechCASH account, via payroll deduction or as a debit account. Employees that elect to have their TechCASH purchases deducted from their pay, will see these deductions in the next pay period. Otherwise, employees may choose to open an Express Account.
Affiliates – Express Accounts may be opened by MIT Affiliates that have a non-expired MIT ID Card. Funds can be deposited in advance via credit card to the affiliate’s account for purchases using the MIT ID Card. Accounts inactive for over 120 days with a balance greater than $10.00 will be automatically closed and the balance will be refunded.
Student Groups –A Wireless Reader may be rented from the TechCASH Office (W20-021) and used at a group's next sales event, whether it be a bake sale, fundraiser, or ticket sale. Before renting a reader, a contract must be filled out and approved by the Student Activities Office (W20-549). The wireless reader is available on a first-come first-serve basis. A copy of the contract may be dowloaded from the For Merchants page on this website.
Shared Accounts –TechCASH customers can share their account with someone with a valid MIT ID card. This is helpful for students with spouses/partners living on campus that need to make purchases and laundry. Can also be used by departments as spending/printing cards.
