Students experiencing an emergency outside of business hours (weekdays from 5PM–9AM, weekends, and holidays) can speak with a student life administrator through our Dean on Call service.

Student Mental Health and Counseling Services

Student Mental Health & Counseling Services (SMHCS) is a dedicated team of clinicians who are available to consult with anyone who is concerned about a student. SMHCS can provide evaluations and consultations, brief treatments including counseling/psychotherapy and medication, and referrals to non-MIT medical clinicians.

For urgent mental health concerns, call 617-253-2916. SMHCS is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you contact SMHCS after hours, you will be connected to the Clinician on Call.

VPR Hotline

Violence Prevention & Response (VPR) is MIT’s primary on-campus resource for preventing and responding to interpersonal violence including sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. Their hotline is available 24 hours a day to support survivors in deciding what to do next.
