Student Group & Individual Funding: Program/Event Support

Are you an MIT student group seeking funding for a program or event? WXGS may be able to help support your idea as it aligns with the mission of Women and Gender Services. The WXGS team will review all applications and then get back to you about funding and possible next steps. It is advised that you apply for funding at least a week in advance so there is enough time for review.

WXGS can fund up to $150 per semester and is open to undergraduate, graduate, doctorate, and post-doctorate student groups and individuals.

MIT Women of Color (WoC) and LBGTQ+ Professional Development Fund

At this time, the WoC Professional Development Fund will no longer be accepting applications due to limited funds.

Below are funding options outside of the WoC Professional Development Fund:

The LBGTQ+ Professional Development Fund is still accepting application until May 30th.

The Professional Development Fund is for currently enrolled MIT WoC and LBGTQ+ undergraduate and graduate students. Below are some examples of how you can use the professional development funds.

  • Graduate and professional school applications

  • Graduate and professional school travel

  • Professional conference registration and travel

  • General education opportunities

  • Graduate/professional/Medical school admissions exams

  • Graduate/professional/Medical school exam prep

  • Professional attire as it relates to professional dress, including gender affirmation

  • Government forms/paperwork fees for LBGTQ+ students

  • Legal name change

We recommend applicants apply for funding and then wait to hear back from OME and LBGTQ+ Services about the status of your application before you purchase anything. If the need is urgent, please email wxgs@mit.edu

The last day to apply to the fund is May 30th. These funds are available to currently enrolled MIT undergraduate and graduate students only. Students are eligible for up to $300 per calendar year.

Additional Funding and Grant Support

In addition to WXGS funding, the Institute Community and Equity Office (ICEO) had complied a list of financial resources for students and student groups.
