Keely Swan

Keely Swan

IDEAS Global Challenge Administrator,

As the Administrator of the IDEAS Global Challenge, Keely works closely with student teams throughout the competition cycle – assisting them with brainstorming, networking, and finessing their proposals. She also coordinates the competition’s major events, collaborating across departments and centers at MIT, working with a large team of volunteers, and assisting teams as they implement projects. Prior to joining the MIT Public Service Center, Keely spent several years managing an international campaign on human rights and gender-based violence at the Center for Women’s Global Leadership at Rutgers University. Keely also worked at Brandeis University as the coordinator for the Brandeis-India Initiative and South Asian Studies Department. In 2007-08, she spent a year at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. Keely holds an MA in Anthropology and Women’s & Gender Studies from Brandeis University and a BA in International Studies from Franklin & Marshall College.

Prerna Sekhri

IDEAS Graduate Assistant

Prerna is an MS/MBA candidate at the new IDM program and at Sloan. After graduating from college, she worked as a management consultant with various departments of the Indian Government on projects ranging from drafting public policy, to strategic organizational design, to management and technology transformations. Before coming to Sloan, Prerna worked as a product and marketing manager at a communications software startup in San Francisco, with a focus on consumer data privacy. She is a proud recipient of PKG Center's Public Service Grants for two incredible projects: one over IAP with a new-immigrant serving nonprofit-food&ag social enterprise in Hawaii, and the other for interning with the UN World Food Programme in Rome over the summer. Prerna grew up in New Delhi, India, and hold a BA in Economics and Political Science from Yale University.

Steven Klutho, IDEAS Grad Assistant

Steven Klutho

IDEAS Graduate Assistant, 

Steven is a graduate student at Boston University in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program, working towards licensure as a high school mathematics teacher. Before moving to Boston for school, Steven worked in Minnesota, teaching at-risk high school students construction and life skills through the YouthBuild program. He also served for two years as an AmeriCorps member with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, leading volunteers on site to build affordable housing in the Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro areas. Steven is very passionate about education and housing, and the intersections of these two sectors. He has a BA in Mathematics from Whitman College, and is originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota.

IDEAS Graduate Assistant

Marissa Reilly has recently joined the IDEAS Challenge Team as a Graduate Assistant. In her new role, she will be focusing on graphic design production and assisting with events and outreach for the 2017-18 year. Marissa is a first year Master of City Planning student at MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning and is focusing on City Design and Development. She's particularly interested in the shared economy and the intersection of new technologies and the built environment. Prior to MIT, Marissa held internships at a Boston-based architecture firm and a green design and build firm in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, Marissa worked as an associate at a planning and design firm in Berkeley, California. During her time in California, she developed a passion for traversing the city by bike and looks forward to seeing what the winter cycling scene has in store for her. Marissa holds a BA in Urban Studies from Vassar College.

Ciara Mulcahy

IDEAS Undergraduate Assistant,

Ciara grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and is now studying Materials Science and Engineering, as an undergraduate at MIT. In high school, she wrote for her hometown’s newspaper and, through the Bezos Scholars Program, founded a program in which high school students mentored middle school students in self-expression and journalistic writing. Ciara is passionate about environmental issues, social entrepreneurship and public education.
