Before taking any job, international students should talk with an advisor in the International Students Office. Permission to be employed must be authorized by US Citizenship and Immigration Services [USCIS]. Spouses of F-1 visa holders in F-2 status may NOT accept paid employment under any circumstances. Spouses of J-1 visa in J-2 status are allowed to apply to USCIS for permission to work. J-2 work permission is granted solely at the discretion of USCIS.
