Do I have to use a particular caterer for my reception?
No, however, use of an off-campus caterer can incur an additional $200 fee on top of the room rate. Off-campus caterers must provide proof of $1 million in liability insurance before operating at MIT. There are no kitchens available in CAC buildings. All cooking must be done off-site (except outdoor BBQ).
Is parking available?
The Chapel Turnaround can park up to 13 cars (double-parked) and is included with the Chapel rate when available. It is not automatically extended for a reception, so please inquire for availability. To inquire about renting a nearby parking lot on campus please contact the MIT Parking Office at 617.258.6510 or email@example.com.
How far into the future may I book my wedding date?
Currently we are booking weddings through August 31, 2017. At 9am on Monday, November 28, 2015, CAC will begin accepting reservation requests for events occurring between September 1, 2017 and August 31, 2018.
What is the capacity of the MIT Chapel?
The Chapel normally seats 114 people; extra folding chairs can be brought in to accommodate up to 140 people.
Does our wedding have to be of a particular denomination to take place in the MIT Chapel?
No, however, weddings in the MIT Chapel must be spiritual in nature and cannot be performed by a justice of the peace. Out-of-state clergy must register with Massachusetts. If you do not belong to a particular denomination and are unsure how to proceed please contact Robert Randolph, Chaplain to the Institute, firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your proposed wedding ceremony.
